Had a discussion with some developers today regarding where their unit testing ends and where our QA testing begins. The current situation has some developers saying that if the code compiles, then it's unit tested. Other developers go through extensive test cases.

Developer's code compiled doesn't means he/she has completed unit testing. It just proof that no syntax error. They need to write a test driver to wrap around their function and tested that way. And compilation not only take place in their workstation, they should test the compilation in AS400, UNIX, and windows if applicable.
