dear all,
I am using QC 9.2 and QTP 10.0 and QTP add-in for quality centre for automation purpose.The QC url is "https://qcbt92.saas.hp.com/qcbin/".The main QTP codes are in QC.To open those codes i need to connect to QC from QTP.But from today itself i could not connect to the QC.Consequently i can not open and modify my codes. Its showing the follwing error: "Failed to update components from server https://qcbt92.saas.hp.com/qcbin/.

Please find a suitable solution for this.

Are you able to manually open QC in IE?

We are using QC 10.0 and QTP 10.0 but having the same problem since last one month. We have raised a HP support issue and they are constantly trying to help us or to sort out the issue but no luck so far

Tarun,
Any clue regarding the above solution.Since this error occurs in my machine only whereas the QC - QTP connection works fine in some other machine.Also i can manually open the QC URL in IE.But still its showing the above mentioned error.

Not sure what could be the issue. But i can give you a direction that might help
QC 10 comes with a logging utility
C:\Program Files\HP\QuickTest Professional\bin\ClientLogs.exe
Run this and enable logs one by one. Once enabled try and connect and see if you find any issues in the log and if they point you to the problem

Tarun,
When i give the connection details (http://server/qcbin)and connect > click details i see the error
Following client components were not downloaded successfully:
4. tdclient.dll : Access is denied.
Close all connections to HP ALM Server and try again
After enabling the logs i see the error which is as follows: 0x10bc ERR Unspecified error (Error code 0x80004005) CQCConnection UpdateConnectivity Failed to update components from server http://153.2.253.4:8080/qcbin QCConnection.cpp 1001
Do i need to run qtp as administrator by right click? because if i run qtp as administartor, system hangs and i need to do a force logoff.
Is my profile corrupted? Qtp 11.0, ALM 11.0 in Windows- 7 Enterprise 32 bit OS

Nitin,
Have you installed the ALM Client or accessed ALM via Browser?
Refer the the below url.(Change the server name to point to your ALM server) You can find the ALM Client & the required permissions is also listed there.

I 've installed ALM client in my machine. I have admin right in my machine but yesterday it hanged almost every time i ran as admin. Running Qtp as Admin resolved the problem today but, I need to check if this problem recurs.

ALM service pack 2 has been reported to throw tdclient.dll access denied error. This is more prominent if ALM is being accessed from Win 7 machine. Solution to this problem is to install ALM service pack 3 on the server machine. After installation of ALM service pack 3, 'HP ALM Client Registration' add-in need also to be re-installed on all the QTP machines( if scheduled execution from ALM doesn't works).
