CITRIX related functional test cases
      #406854 - 08/14/07 01:59 PM

Hello,

I was task in a project to design test cases specific tackle problems/issues that might occur in a CITRIX operation scenario.

We have a web application that have been tested (functional testing) in an environment (Client - Server). The operation of this application is beeing mirgrated to a citrix server, and the customer tasked us to design test cases (not performance or load testing, but functional test cases) that would address issues that might occur when operation the application on a citrix server.

In the past, we used to run functional tests for client server applications in their *normal* environment and only when this functional test was completely done, would the application move to the citrix server and no futher test would be done.

I did some searching and read over at stickyminds.com that test cases specific to applications running in a citrix environment should address areas of the application where there's an interaction with the client (ICA client?), like printing? saving stuff? and what else?

Does anyone have experience in this area and will be kind enough to share his/her experience here?

thank you and kind regards

Hi Silverter,
I have always included key shortcuts in this. Sometimes the shortcuts used in the application are picked up by the emulator... it anoys users

Reserve a few months every so often and preview retirement throughout your career. You won't regret that a 35 year career was reduced to 34 years to take vacations measured in months in order to remember what a stress and care-free life is all about.

Books and hard work will get you anywhere you want to go.

Ahh... Citrix
I used to integrate and deploy these so-called "solutions"

One of the crappiest applications ever propagated (in the light of current technology & in my opinion. Dollar for dollar it offers the worst price performance of any app I can imagine.

The most important thing you have to test specifically beyond basic functionality is multimedia content. There are just too many applications/tools/formats that you cannot use with citrix. I dont know the scope of your biz needs so I cannot give you more detail about what/where to test than that but I tell you this: your implementation of citrix will wind up driving your development.
(effectively away from multimedia/user friendly; if not into the ground)

PS: If perchance you are testing the Citrix app that used to be known as Ardence then you have a whole different set of challenges... focus on load.
