SeeTest from experitest
      #677726 - 07/07/11 04:37 AM

Hi forum.
I'm new for mobile test automation.
I'm in the process of evaluation SeeTest from experitest.

Any inputs on the product.

My test should run on iPhone, Android and Blackberry.
And I would like to build single test that will run on all devices.
I was able to build the test (they did good job in making it simple) but I'm unable to run the test on all devices at the same time.
Anyone has experience with it and know how to do it?

BTW, I'm using the tool integration with QTP.
Thanks,
David

I just heard about and saw brief demo of it at a code camp conference today. Neat tool. Haven't used it myself.

You might want to post to the forums at the Experitest website for better help.

The tool does not natively run tests against the device itself. You plug it into computer and run the tool to create the automation, but the automation runs on the emulators (supplied with the tool). I would think even if it were possible, it would be ineffective in practice to run test on all the devices at same time because you have to run via emulator, which means you run all the emulators (on same machine) at same time. And we all know emulators don't run very fast, factor in automation, and that's more delays.

Also learned you have to jailbreak iPhone, iTouch, iPad in order to automate for them.

And FYI, if you can deal with more real programmer "coding" and integration work, you can really save money by not using this tool and using a free open source equivalent that automates the same way (by image recognition) but without the mobile device and QTP integration built in (hence more integration work for you to do): www.sikuli.org

Sikuli is in Java, Python, and their Python based Sikuli script. But I've built a command line (java) tool that will allow you to use Sikuli w/o coding in Java, Python, or Sikuli script if you prefer:

Hi
I ama support manager for SeeTest tool from Experitest.
SeeTest runs on REAL devices, not emulators.
A few devices can be plugged into SeeTest simulatneously.

same script can run on all devices, all OS. So a script created for Android can run also on iOS, Blackberry, WindowsPhone7 and Symbian.

Hi Lara,

I have used trial version of SeeTest tool. The tool is very nice and simple to use.

Can you please throw light on some of my doubts. Please correct me if I am wrong as I am new to this field:

1] One thing I noticed that if the application has form which contains many fields that user has to fill, then the tool pick ups the first field only and rest of all fields are not filled while running the script.

2] I did not find how to adjust the speed of tool while running the script. I think it should have some facility to adjust the speed of running script like Selenium has.

Thanks in Advance..

Hi SwapQA
In order to focus on text field you should click on the related label. There few options:
-Identify the label and click with a x offset from it (using click command).
-Identify the label and click on the text field right to it (using clickIn command).

In January release there will be a way to execute the script slower.

Hi Lara,

Happy to know that there will be provision for execution of script in slow speed, as it will help in observing the changes carefully.

Thanks once again!!

Hi Lara,
I'm new in SeeTest !
I have seen in your post that "same script can run on all devices", how?
And, is there a way to excute the script slower?

Thank you very much!
