We'll take Halloween back if you take back the Wiggles and Cate Blanchett.

IanFraser

There is a house near us that decorates for such, yet to have any annoying kids showing up for a sugar fix.

I hear all the hype about it, but yet to see it, I think there might be small pockets of it happening but I think its mostly media hype.

Mind elaborating on that one Ian? Or are you just injecting negativity into a positive thread for no good reason?

Halloween is a lot of fun, and I don't see anything wrong with it. And I certainly wouldn't refer to it as stupid.

I think your post is stupid because you're being negative and you didn't even explain yourself.

It is only in recent years this started in Australia. It may well be a part of American Culture but to me in Australia it is nothing but a pain in the butt.

Media and Comercial hype is to blame for the growth of this in Australia. Coles and Woolworths just see it as a chance to sell more stuff.

The Americans my think they own the idea but it it is not theirs to claim.

Sure its how capitalism works, retailers apparently earn about 25% of their revenue during the Christmas period, any holiday / celebration they can exploit the better as far as they are concerned.

Oh quit your whining Ian. There's nothing wrong with trying out Halloween. If it's fun in America then maybe after a while it will become fun in Australia too. You just sound like a "Negative Nancy".

Sport I am not whining.... You guys stand up for freedom of speach and expression but it would seem if someone has a diffrent view to you its whining.

I suggest you grow up and accept that there are views diffrent to yours.

I'm not saying you're not allowed to speak on it, you can, but we were celebrating halloween in here and you just decided to inject your negative whiny opinion: "Another stupid thing that has crossed over to Australia... We went out last night to avoid the stupidity..."

This was a thread to celebrate halloween not complain about it so maybe you shouldve started a whiny halloween bashing thread and you and your friends can go cry there.

You (IanFraser) PM'ed me too, I'll be a drama queen and share with everyone:
Ian: Mate if you don't like my point of view just ignor it.

Me: Take your own advice then. If you don't like Halloween, then just ignore it.

Ian: Added to my ignor list..
------------------------------------------------------------

Ah poor Ian, couldn't handle his hypocricy being called out...
