MSSQL - Silktest error
      #718166 - 10/16/12 01:19 PM

Okay so I have spent the last almost 6 hours on the forums and in Google trying to fix this error with no luck.
I have tried everything I could find.
The Error is; [ ] *** Error: (IM002) [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified.
I have setup ODBC and I have also done all the DB stuff in Silktest and it connects. However when I try to connect using

hdbcSQL = DB_Connect("DNS=mssql; SERVER=172.18.1.151;UID=sa;PWD=")
I get the following error.
The Error is; [ ] *** Error: (IM002) [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified.

Please help.

Try use direct DSN name like

DB_Connect(DSNName)

Kishore

DSN connection: "DSN=MYSQL;Trusted_Connection=yes;"
Connection to SQL Server without using ODBC data source: "Driver={SQL Server};Server=172.18.1.151;Database=MYSQL;Trusted_Connection=yes"

There's plenty of examples on the internet.

These are not working either. I will keep looking. I wish all DB ODBC's were as easy as MySQL.

Those were just examples of connection and connectionless strings.

The error you are receiving is relating to "no default driver specified.". I had shown "Driver={SQL Server}" as an example, you need to fill in the driver name.

My driver name is mssql. I am also seeing the same error with oracle.

this is my connection string
hdbcSQL = DB_Connect("DNS=mssql; SERVER=138.42.136.34;PWD=<password>;UID=sa")

The driver I'm using is actually just called 'SQL Server'. And you should also specify the database you are trying to connect to. Otherwise, it'll just use the default one which could change...

db_connect("Driver=SQL Server;Server=192.168.0.1;Database=somedb;UID=user;PWD=password")

And your string says 'DNS', which should be 'DSN' is you are going to use a DSN. I think using the driver is more flexible though. Then you don't need to bother creating a DSN.
