I am interested in this election. So for me at least it isn't rubbish.

But with news coverage of anything that doesn't interest me ("Baseball" for example), I cope by ignoring it.

Many of us do not watch TV. I go as far a intentionally muting the radio when they go to a political commercial.

There is easy resolution to your challenge.

If you don't like the content, change the channel. If you really don't like the content, then change the channel, inform the broadcaster you have done so. If you really really really don't like the content and it's so pervasive as to make you physically ill, then inform the broadcaster of your intent remove the channel from your channel list and then do so. I don't particularly like watching competitive dodgeball on TV so I have ESPN 8 (the ocho!) locked out as an example.

Or you can just turn off the device or read a book or enjoy some music.

The problem with the news coverage is that at times it tends to be slanted over here so ya have to weed out the rubbish and try to make an informed decision

LOL!

As Lance Armstrong says: "Yeah, I've been watching the dodgeball tournament on the Ocho. ESPN 8. I just can't get enough of it."

If you can dodge traffic, you can dodge a ball. What's our team motto? Aim low!

James Pulley

At a guess the media coverage is at a far higher level of intensity in the US.... is there a news channel that you can switch to that does not cover the election ?

Joe Strazzere

But surely the media can wind it back a few notches ?

Elections in Australia are becoming more like what you see in the US, in fact much of our media air time is dedicated to your election.

I generally only watch TV to catch the News. The problem is there is too much News on the US election from an Australia point of view I dont care if you guys elect a chimp.

I do have a Tivo and it is generally always half an hour behind so I can normally zip past it all.

They could, but unless something else comes along that would grab viewership, they won't.

With the increasing partisanship of each outlet, people tune in to hear/see their views confirmed, rather than real news or objective review. Most people seem to prefer stridency over rational discussion.

Sounds like fun (ugh).
Do you get the Cartoon Network?

You and me both, and I live here. ;-)

I bailed 15s into the first debate. I can not wait for the election to be over. Of course regardless of who wins we'll likely be treated to weeks of lawsuits.

Me too - I've been "election weary" (at all of the race levels) for many months now. In fact when we were discussing it at work yesterday I lamented that they should just let us vote already.

I also bailed on the first debate - though I lasted a bit longer than you did. Managed a whole 1/2 hour - when I heard the same stuff repeated for a third time I moved on.

It's not just over there...here its worse depending on which network you watch. But you are only getting into the heat of it now, some of us have been watching reports for about a year when the primaries were going on last summer and there was new batch of crazy everyweek on who was leading and why!

Sad part is Romney has been running since 2008...has to be one of the longest campaigns on record.

Nowadays it isn't a question of when these politicians are out running for office, it is when they are not. Seems to be a constant thing now, no wonder nothing gets done in Congress.

The live the "Endless Summer" of campaining.
