Modular testing with Silktest
      #717282 - 10/01/12 06:17 PM

Hi All,

I'm looking for anyone's experience or advice creating modular tests or components using the latest version of Silktest. I have a trail version and understand it doesn't function like the old test partner or QTP, but hoping there is some alternative.

Any input anyone has would be appreciated.

Is Module Testing the same as Unit Testing? If yes, then it is possible to do unit testing using Silk4Net (Visual Studio) or Silk4J (Eclipse), these are plugins that are available with SilkTest

I don't think so, Unit Testing is more of back-end testing at the code level. What I'm thinking of breaking of the AUT into functional pieces, automating those pieces and pulling them together to have dynamic automated tests.

But I'll look into those plugins thanks.

You can quite easily automate individual areas of AUT, but it does solely depends on how you structure your automation. Once you have your automation in place, you then use SilkCentral to manage the automation and results.

Have a look at http://www.borland.com/ and look at the product demos/videos.
