OpenSTA for Cognos Insight or BI?
      #714091 - 08/08/12 02:49 PM

Anyone using OpenSTA for recording and simulate users for Cognos Insight or BI?

Thanks.

I have tried this in the past, but authentication issues (i guess it was kerberos + https + siteminder) made me move to LoadRunner. But if your site's authentication is not that complex, perhaps you can give it a try. (I m assuming you are aware of OpenSTA's other known limitations)

But remember to follow the instructions in this article below. You may have to create code to simulate async behavior for Cognos as listed in this document.
http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/data/library/cognos/page406.html

You definitely will have to spend a lot of time parameterizing / creating functions for your first 2 -3 scripts.

If you are successful in this attempt, please post us success story! Good Luck!

Thanks Vivek. I only have the Kerberos security, so maybe possible. So far I can't record from my Windows 7 with msg: "You have not specified to go through a proxy in your internet settings. it is compulsory to make a capture".

Still working on that issue.

Phuong,

AFAIK OpenSTA does not support Win 7. Try capturing from a WinXP/2003 PC.

I know OpenSTA supports NTLM 2, but not sure whether it works with Kerberos 5. I never had a chance to test a plain Kerberos site with OpenSTA.

Usually scripts should authenticate properly if you use NTLM 2. If it still doesn't playback correctly after you've captured using OpenSTA from WinXP/2003 box (i.e., if you receive 401 unauthorized), I guess it could be due to Kerberos.

Vivek
