Hi,

To my knowledge, you are not able to record using Firefox.
Refer this link for reference http://portal.opensta.org/modules.php?op...upportedBrowser

yes you are correct, there is no support for firefox in OpenSTA. but as per the link it supports IE & Netscape browsers.

There was just a thread about this in the OpenSTA mailing list recently.

That is not correct.

You are able to record with Firefox (or any other browser or http client that allows you to configure it for use with a proxy).

The only part that may not work is the automatic startup of the recorder with correct browser/proxy settings. So to record with Firefox, you would need to set the proxy settings manually.

see the opensta-users mailing list archives for more detail.

As i stated before, indeed you are able to use Firefox or any other browser (or other type of HTTP client) that is able to use a proxy server.

for details: http://portal.opensta.org/modules.php?op...upportedBrowser

If you are not satisfied with the description there, please consider updating it with more info that you find. The Wiki at the OpenSTA Portal is a resource for all of us, by all of us.

Hi all,

I'm using OpenSTA 1.4.3.20. I recorded script with Firefox by Remote Recording way. My way: Script Modeler with machine A(has firefox+OpenSTA)
1/ Browser: IE 5.5
2/ Gateway:
Capture: Remote
Administration Port: 3000
Port: 81
Proxy:
Address: proxy IP ; Port: proxy Port
Secure: IP of machine A; Port: 81
3/ Click Record button
4/ At machine A, run firefox:
- Connection setting: Manual proxy configuration\
HTTP Proxy: IP of machine A; Port: 81
- Start record in the Firefox
5/ Finish recording, reset your connection setting in the Firefox
Note: you can remote recording with Firefox which is the same

Explain:
- OpenSTA recording is HTTP requests/responses. Browser is only HTTP communication vehicle. So we can use everybrowser which supports HTTP 1.0/1.1

Hi,

Yes, it is possible to record.
It records via indirect way. Press record option in OpenSTA and dont close the browser which pops up. Open the Firefox manually and change the proxy address as per the IE settings which has pop up while recording.

Then do the transaction as per your requirement. It will record in openSTA and close both the browser after finishing the transaction recording.
