From a testing perspective vulnerability testing is to identify areas within the application that are vulnerable, i.e areas that can aid unauthorized users gain access to the system.

A Manual test engineer can use tools to identify gaps and undertake this testing.

There are following testing under the vulnerability testing:
port scanning, hacker tool detection, virus scanning and firewall testing, used to conduct security vulnerability assessments.
