LoadRunner Chit Chat Thread
      #642645 - 09/17/10 05:25 PM

Always wanted to start a "Miscellaenous Thread" aka chit chat thread for the LR forum to discuss misc things exclusively about LR..

This thread is those posts that are not classified as "Issues" Or "Problems" that require resolutions. but merely your observations, remarks comments etc.. So let me see if this works out..

-------------------------

To start with.. do you know that LoadRunner 11 is officially released - login to the HP support site and download the upgrade version if you want to give it a shot.

will post my comments after I take a dekko at the new version...

hmm, I must have missed something. I downloaded the 1.5GB zip file three times on two different machines and I still get an "Invalid Zip File" message when trying to extract...

I am not sure if the below things come into issues/probs/Bugs/errors/...:

1-LR 9.52 and Mozilla Browser 3.0 recording is a problem most of the times, not sure what is going wrong.
- Especially when it involves HTTPS Applications

2-LR>9.5 ver uses .EVE files on LG
When running tests, LR saves the results on LG as .eve files after the test these files will be transfered to LRR folder on controller as part of Collating process.

But for some reasons .eve files gets corrupted on the LGs, you cant extract the results with transaction names:(.

With LR<9.1 we dont have this prob.

3-We have instaled LR9.52 on some PC Host controllers machines and after some weeks of working fine seeing issues in Analysis which is causing each controller machine re-build one by one.

- Error while opening analysis is : "Incorrect writing to a fileD:\...LRAnalysis80.ini, COuldnot find part of the path ..D:\...LRAnalysis80.ini.

we checked the file is existing fine and replacing the file doesnt help.

4-VuGen Browser replay wont worksome times, need to re-build the software.

5-web-citrix, web events gets recorded but not Citrix
Web-Oracle, same problem oracle events wont get recorded.

6-Citrix - After Proper Citrix Agent ver installation on Citrix server, we wont be able to identify the text on citrix windows while recording in vugen.

Hope the next ver dont have this probs

I am also having the same issue. I downloaded the first time directly and when I saw the error about the invalid zip file, I used HP download manager to download it again. But same error again.

I use 7-zip by default and it would not even open. However, if I used the windows explorer to open the zip file, it shows the iso image, but won't extract or burn it to a disc.

Let me know if you have an update.

Schmitar, Same thing. I can see the ISO but the extraction does not work - either with Windows Native Zip or through WinRAR. No joy whatsoever..

The funny thing was that the Recruiter didnt catch on the joke, he seriously replied with a job description.. So my guess is he doesnt have a clue what LoadRunner means..

this does not surprise me at all

recruitment consultants generally don't know that much about what they're recruiting - it's all database searches for buzzwords

even when they're supposed to be specialised

Well, despite the labor shortage, pay rates for LR (and IT in general) have been flat for the past 10 years in the USA while they're skyrocking in India.

Good for them, but after 10 years of no forward movement in salaries and no end in sight, I'm contemplating a career change!

Dan,

I understand your feeling well, as once a year I typically look at leaving the profession altogether: Many of my peers have already done so. What has kept me here for the past five years is usually I have an unprompted & unusually timed email that shows up that speaks to how I have helped a person or organization I never knew about because of my contributions here and in other sites.

The challenges we have in our industry are severe and well known, even though most clients choose to ignore their impact in search of driving every last penny out of IT costs. The phrase, "Penny-wise and Dollar foolish" comes to mind to cover this behavior. I imagine many of these people would shy away from a "free" dog or a "free" car, knowing what is coming, but with unskilled outsourced contractors they just don't get it. Go figure.

That having been said, I was in a meeting yesterday with a major software vendor who is finally willing to fight hard against this trend and support an industry forum for the collection and dissemination of a performance engineering common body of knowledge. Once one vendor falls, others generally follow. I consider this spectacularly good news. I cannot reveal the vendor at this point, but I would expect that an announcement would show up in this forum when the common body of knowledge site goes live. I consider this forthcoming site a complement to SQAForums and not a replacement.

Who's up for some (Plymouth Hemi) RoadRunner Testing!?

Replace ineffective offshore contracts, LoadRunnerByTheHour. Starting @ $19.95/hr USD.

James,

I believe it is "a penny wise, a pound foolish", which is a better alliteration.

Talking about rates

From the LoadRunner Recruiter hall of shame..

Quote:

LOADRUNNER /Networking/latency testing---position at Memphis TN (2Positions)
Duration: 1 year
Rate : negotiable ( around 35/hr---more for seniors)
should be able to join ASAP.
