To get the text message that is displayed on windo
      #631056 - 06/17/10 02:24 AM

I am using Rational visual test 6.5 to automate the user actions of my application.

my application throws warning message if the given input file is invalid.

My concern is :

Tool is not bothering what error message appearing on the dialog box. it just looks whether the dialog box appears and clicked OK on it or not.

How to get the text message appeared in dialog box.

ex:
1) Start Record
2) Open applicaiton
3) Select invalid file
4) My application throws "Missing attributes" warning
message and click OK on it.
5) Stop Record

While executing the script, it is checking whether warning message window opened and clicked OK on it. But not checking whether the message is "Missing attributes" or something else.

How to get the text message that is displayed on the window

Please help me.

Hey YKukati,

Its been a while since I dealt with VT but seem to recall getmessage? or Getmsg or some such. Although that could be a different tool and I dont have a copy of VT anywhere around right not to look.

Pretty certain its in the help though just look under message or get message

Hi all,

Thank you so much for all your support. I have got the solution for this problem

StaticText - to get the text from window
WStaticExists - to check whether the label exists in the current highlighted window.

Thanks,
YKukati
