Creating a testing tool using VT
      #507721 - 08/12/08 07:52 AM

Hi all,

I have been using VT 6 for last few months. I have successfully completed in writing test scripts and implemented them for small tests.

My requirement is to create a stand alone desktop application for testing, ie, a test suite.
I need to create a few test scripts and a general user interface through which users can do specific testings by events like button clicks.

Is it possible to create a UI like a VB form with buttons using VT, or I need to create the UI with some other software? please give some suggestions.

Using VT, you can't create UI. YOu can't develop the application. VT was developed for testing purpose....

Using VB or any other development languages, you can create UI.

Actually you can create simple UIs with Visual Test, but nobody does. Using VB.net is probably your best bet here.

Actually, it's pretty easy to do. We've written a few dozen test apps with UI's that allow users to configure the tests they'd like to run.

VT has access to the resource editor in Visual Studio just like any of the other languages. Check out the "Working With Resources" topic in VT's online help.

Tom Arnold's book also has some information on it as I recall.

I'm using Rational Visual Test v6.5 and I am test a C# with .net app and I am getting pauses whilst running my scripts in various places of the app, (not always in the same place) and with me manually moving the mouse resolves the pause.

My functions and code are used in many different scripts which do not see the pause issues, so I can't understand why I see the pause issues in other scripts..

The problem is I cannot also be on hand to keep an eye on my scripts.

Has anyone came accross a simliar issue using VT. If so how did you resolve the gremlin that is the pausing of script whilst running...
