here is another question,
a test case is : 'On all graphs the colored objects appear in 3-D mode with the color having a shaded variation, rather than flat.'
how to validate the mode is 3-D?
and the clore having a shaded variation?

Airchu, first of all: Please don't post different questions into the same thread. Start a new thread if you have another question.

Second: The questions you have posted so far indicate that you need to get some WinRunner (or basic GUI test automation) training. You should ask your employee to give you that training.

Third (concering your 3D-question): Simplest way would be comparing a bitmap (screenshot) against an expected bitmap (which you have validated manually before). In this case you would assure that the data of the charts will look the same (so that you can compare the bitmaps).

A more complex way would be reading the pixel color of certain pixels on your chart and then deciding if it is shaded or not. I believe some threads in this forum deal about reading pixel colors - you can search for these.

Last solution: Maybe this test case is not a good candidate for test automation - consider the costs for automating and maintaining this test case and check if manual validation of the 3D-chart would be more effective.

Regards,
Juergen
