Pint in London - 1st August 2008
      #497560 - 07/07/08 06:50 AM

A couple of us are thinking of meeting up for a pint (or two) in London on the 1st August. Anybody and everybody is welcome.
At the moment we were thinking of 'The Crown And Cushion' in Waterloo. http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/30/3061/Crown_and_Cushion/Waterloo http://www.fluidfoundation.com/venueDetails.aspx?VenueID=2380
It's got a number of stations nearby and compared to most London pubs it's 'cheap'.

Sorry - bit far for a pint after work for me. Too bad it wasn't on the 30th - after the TMF.

Date was just a random date picked, could be changed?

OK, we're going to stick with the 1st Aug. Shame you can't make it Susan but if it's a good night maybe we'll do more.

Test Manager's Forum - see link here http://uktmf.com/. Looks like this one is fully booked. But if you register, they let you know when the next one is.

Is the TMF a genuine thing? I've looked at their site before but it's never really looked finished to me, so I've resisted signing up.

I've just registered now and the "thank you" page says
"Page not found"
Thank you for applying for an account....
The requested page could not be found.

I'm don't mean to knock it, I just wondered if this was active and useful.

The forum meetings are certainly real. There is a quarterly meeting (free) in London where different topics are discussed. It has expanded enough that there are now two streams that are run, and has to be moved to a new venue. It's a good forum for face to face discussions about testing issues. One of the quarterly meetings is a summit (January), which does have a cost (about 100 if I remember correctly, and it has a few more streams running at the same time.). What makes these different from a conference is the participants actually get to join in the discussion and contribute a lot more than just the Q&A sessions which is the norm at conferences.

I think Paul is in the process of changing the site format. I will pass on your comments to him.

they happen and they are good but i agree for a while the page has been a bit random, Paul Gerrard is sending more emails about them now and they tend to fill up fast.

Spikey one I should be in London that day so count me in

If I'm going to fly across the pond for this meeting, it's got to be after the season starts and only if someone can scrounge me a ticket to WHL

I've booked the afternoon off otherwise I wouldn't get there until 7-7:30ish (work in Bedford).

I could get there shortly after lunch.
