Rich and/or Darrel and possibly others, your contributions were handled by the hazmat team. Do you recall or wish to recall any?

Bulemia, etc.

redneck dictionary

Piller: Some may think that this is a structural member that holds up a roof. It is really a thing that you lay your head on when you are sleeping.

Awl: Some may think that this is a sharp pointed instrument for poking holes. It is really a form of lubrication for internal combustion engines.

I always smile when I hear one of my testers (who hails from Texas) say to a colleague, "watch-iss!" I think he does it mostly for effect, since he is actually rather well-spoken in "real life."

I have at home 2 books called "Teach Yourself Southern" (parts 1 and 2." One of my favorites is "This draink needs more ars."

As you may be aware, modern speech synthesis software typically uses wave technology to form the voices, thus allowing for accents, male/female, young/old etc. The voices are typically given real names (Bobby, Dirk, Jane, etc - even Sujatha for an Indian female voice).

Recently a team from Nuance (suppliers of the RealSpeak voices, and a provider of synthesizers for our products) came to visit, and the Veep brought them over to meet my team. When they came to the cubicle of the Texan mentioned above, he charmingly offered to record the voice for "Bubba" if they were interested. Not being sure if he was serious, they equally charmingly declined!

OK. Let's see what I can come up with. What is the maximum size for an attachment here?

(By the way, Nuance has a demo page, but it requires signup, so you may or may not want to go through that).

OK - this is so different from the subject of voices alone, that I'll attach the synthesizer voices here as well as leaving the new topic in place.
