Using OLE to read FoxPro DBF files
      #144130 - 08/18/04 01:10 PM

Hello. I am attempting to use OLE through Robot to access FoxPro DBF files. I have been able to do this successfully by converting the DBF file to an Excel file and then using Excel OLE commands. However, one of our developers stated that he believes there are OLE commands that can bring me directly into the DBF files without having to convert them to Excel first. I could then look at tables, rows, columns, and fields instead of having to deal with Excel objects.

Would anyone know how I can access a DBF via OLE and how I would access the fields? I am mainly interested in syntax. If anyone could recommend a reference site or book that would be great too.

For example, in Excel I would use the following to read from cell A1:

Dim EO as object
Dim BO as object
Dim SO as object

Set EO = CreateObject("Excel.Application")
Set BO = EO.Workbooks.Open("C:\myfile.xls")
Set SO = BO.WorkSheets("Sheet1")

sVal = SO.Range("A1").Value

But what would be the similar syntax to do this in a FoxPro DBF?

DBF databases can be repaired due to recover foxpro. It owns high end, easy to use interface for any experienced user. The program is able to work under any Windows OS. The software doesn't modify source data during restoration.
