Upgrade to LR 11. (or LR 9.52 with a patch downloaded from HP Support)

Hi,

Where can I find the new Visual Studio Add-in?

I'd like to migrate some LR9.5 + VS2005 to LR11 + VS2010.

Thanks, Ricardo

What a pain in my rear lately.

The "RequestUrl" portion of this new feature when it combs through my correlation rules are causing all kinds of Memory Exception errors when I try to run the script.

If I comment out the "RequestUrl=*......." piece, the script runs fine.

I also like to use a template to preload a lot of our custom login functions into vuser_init and all of our custom .h paths into the globals.h section.

When I record a script into the Action section, it wipes out the globals.h section. I've got an open ticket for that one... we'll see how it goes. I already got the first response I expected "Upgrade to patch 3" so we're scheduled to do that in ~2 weeks.

What a fun week!

Just an update on the template issue. Upgraded to Patch 3, still saw the same behavior. Finally thought I'd get escalated. Oh no! Patch 4 just came out and THAT will magically solve my problems.

Long story short(er) I asked the support person, since he claimed he was unable to replicate my issue in his environment, to send ME a WebEx recording of his steps since I was obviously doing something wrong on my end.

Finally escalated. The issue magically appeared in his environment!

Great. Another "by design" feature.

Wait... you're telling me that "by design" when I record a script, it not only overwrites the Action section (which I would expect,) but also the globals.h section? On what planet would anyone think that's "by design???"

Oh, but the Init section remains intact?

And your solution for me is to copy my globals.h section INTO the Init section so when it gets overwritten, I can just copy it back??

Booooo. Hisssss.

I might as well use notepad and call it my new VuGen "template."

Think you know C? Check it out. A fun, quick and "easy" test.

I'll confess that I took more time than I probably should have and I did miss one of the questions (number 3).

If you report your results, be honest! (or just don't say anything :-)

Hey Guys, I wonder is you wouldn't mind putting your 2 cents in on the following: My company is Ixia (www.ixiacom.com) and we have had some interesting and productive discussions with the HP/LoadRunner product team. These discussions are about adding functionality (through a technology partnership with HP) that will produce a *network-only* performance metric for the existing LoadRunner UI.

There have been discussions, on this board and elsewhere, regarding the "blind spot" that is the network when performing tests with remote VU's. specifically, we (both parties) believe there is value in discriminating just how much of a reported response time metric is attributed to the network, and not the loaded or unloaded AUT.

Let me know if you feel you would use this type of functionality. HP and IXIA, while we see value in the functionality, need some confirmation from the user community. Your feedback would be valued to the extreme!

Thank you,

Warren Stewart
Ixia

Having a brain fart on where I can set the configuration for max VUs allowed on a LoadGen. I'm not talking about where you can assign the max # in a PC project, but on the actual LG itself.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Question: Why do vetran members of this forum jump all over new comers? That's kind of distrubing trend I've seen on numerious threads I've read.

I understand your point of view totally. However, just request them to to post in a certain format should suffice no?

The LoadRunner forum is something of a one-off in SQAForums. It is intended solely for trained and experienced LR users. As a result, it's not that the newcomers to SQAF get jumped on (although there are a lot of them that ARE new), but rather that the experienced members here do not want to waste time trying to replace the training that someone using LR should have gone through before touching the tool.

There are other forums elsewhere that have no such restriction, such as the Yahoo LoadRunner group.

Gotcha.

I agree but seems harsh to tell you the truth. Part the reason I mostly read and post less. Even though I've been registered with this since 2005.

Would welcome this with both hands. One of the problems while testing using remote LGs is the delta added by network. while tools like Shunra can create the same conditions locally and provide good analysis to tell you where exactly the time was spent, a plug in like this will help a lot. Most of the clients want to see how exactly the application will behave in the production network or the internal network.

Has anyone else watched these videos covering Loadrunner 11.50? Looks like they finally after all these years actually updated the editor and the entire UI.

But I'm scared it will be even more buggy now considering the number of changes they have made.

I seriously crack up when I see people post scripts online to internet forums that contain usernames and passwords in PLAIN TEXT for the whole world to see.

Unbelievable.

Indeed quite a lot of changes. I have not seen the videos as such but we got ours upgraded to 11.5 recently. Got to say, it'll take time getting used to the new look and feel.

They have broken a few existing features, some better known features are hard to find and quite a lot of new additions. I for one am getting confused with the new UI, having worked with the old one for 6+ years now.

Just my 2 cents.
