Tarun,

I own a copy of your book Quicktest Professional Unplugged and I believe even got some good sales for you due to my recommendation to my friends...and team members, but I want to thank you personally for writing a good book on the subject. Also, if you ever need an editor, I would be interested in giving you a feedback, since I know some of the errors with original book.

I would like to recommend two have a chapter for coding in Firefox environment. The simple reason for this is I do not believe there are enough documentation out there and all I am seeing is guesswork type recommendations.

I believe that it is a strategical flaw in HP/Mercuries part to not to pay enough attention to Firefox, since it is becoming the leader of the browser world (if not already). When I checkit last time FF had 45-49% share of the browser market and IE lost a few point and now they are down to 40-45 % at the most...Remaining 10% is shared between Chrome, Netscape and others...

So a strong chapter on Firefox could definitely be an eye opener for most of us.

Again, thank you for your leadership in writing the first book and if you ever need an editor, I would be more than happy to devote my time (free of charge for labor hours except one copy copy of finished work )

Respectfully,

Monster_energy

Hi Tarun,

I would also like to emphasize that you should include chapter on QC manipulation through QTP .Chapter on extensive QC OTA scripting integration.Performing taks like test case status updation ,test case updation in Test Plan tab , downloading and uploading test cases from QC through QTP using VB scripting, playing around with different sections of QC with QTP

Harjeet

Harjeet, I know that this is one topic that everyone is looking forward to. But I don't think it is something that a book on DP will include. This book is specifically based on objects, identification and manipulation.

This book will eliminate any doubts that exists today regarding QTP's object identification

Hi Tarun,

If possible include the below topic
1. Things should not be considered for automation
2. How to do a feasibility study on the selection of framework (whether to go for Keyword Driven, Data Driven, Hybrid or BPT).
3. How to inprove the performance of the script (Reduction in the Execution time)
4. Error handling (Not only "on error resume next", better if we have detaild error handling real time scenarios.
5. The parameters to be considered while doing automation project estimation.

Regards,
Pramod

Hi Tarun,

I think you can write deeply about how the Local machine explain the QTP scripts. And I really wanna your books can writed as detailed as the Java books. And tell us how the QTP relative with system exchange;

I have an issue:here, hope you can kindly solve...

I use QTP connect the QC; and I wanna set the current directory to path of QC, the code as following:

Set wScript = CreateObject("WScript.Shell")

wScript.CurrentDirectory ="[QualityCenter] Subject\FAIT Demo\ Fuction Library"

but when I run QTP, it reported "General Run Error"

Thank you

yangguo, Please post your issue in a new thread. This thread is for discussion of the book only.

I know there have been many feedback by different forums members but I just wanted to re-iterate that this book would be totally focused on objects, identification methods, properties and methods.

Hi Tarun,

Your volume one for qtp unplugged is excellent for freshers. As in your next volume you are concentrating on Descriptive programming and Object identification, it would be very helpful for newbies if you can cover one real time application .(How to code in real time a complete application)would be very helpful as there would be no recording and no checkpoints in real time .
We need to know how coding happens in real time.

Regards,
Vinesh

Hi Tarun,

Greetings, n you are doing a great job. I got the first volume of QTP unplugged. It is a wonderful book.

In the second volume i'm expecting a chapter with full automated framework of a live web application. Think that will give a brief overall idea on where to start and where to end...

I am sorry. I never worked on QTP in my career, but is this book worth buying? (by this I mean any book)

Coz, with the documentation standards Mercury had set, I think most of the queries can be solved. Plus we have various forums where you can get your niggles solved.

I think this book is useful for people who'd be entering into QTP (coz I myself face difficulty in getting hands-on for QTP).

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Thats good to hear ... Good Luck Tarun.

It would be good , If a beginner or intermediate QTP User can get information on
1)ADODB,Wscript and how actually QTP plays its role in doing database testing ...
2) Mercury Device reply and how it can be used.
3) Creation of Objects and How to use them.
4) How to communicate to QC using QTP and some best practices.

Great going Tarun,
The only issue I am facing in DP is working with External files.
Can you throw some light on this topic. Specifically debugging external vbs files.
Here is my prob for which I am still not able to find a solution.

Thats a great idea Tarun... what i would like to see in the next book would be:
1. Detailed info on the different types of Frameworks and how to create a stable framework. I am not expecting the code but the theory of it
2. Some details about descriptive programming, where and how we can use it
3. WSH objects... this is something i never understood.. why, when where,,, i am totally blank

Thank you very much for your efforts... keep posting... it is of great help to us...
