Hi Tarun,

I am good follower of knowledgebox.com, fisrt i should say excellent, for your extra skills, thirst and thriving for new water always. Because you dont see the things by UI(User interface), rather you took the other direction, how they are made and how they are working or getting coordinated.

My Suggestion for your new book:

Why dont we try to include chapter on QTP mechanism of identifying the objects.
For example : To identify the browser driven apps, qtp should have used shell.application and stored the objects and the roadpath of the object what we added to the OR.

like wise whats the mechanism for windows, swf objects ....

I hope, Every one understood my view ..

Hey Tarun , I think if you can include something on automation object model , QC OTA API .That would be very helpful to readers.

wish you luck.

Hi Tarun,

If you have not covered Automation Object Model in previous book, please try to cover in this book.

And a comment on price of your previous book, I dont spending money on books but definately Rs. 550 is not "easily affordable",

If not to late I would like to see a Chapter with extensive QC OTA scripting integration. being able to fully understand the dynamics of QC and QTP. Like updating test case status, and manipulating QC objects.

It would be great if you include evalating of this tool for any set of application.I mean to say evaluation of tool steps. This would be helpful for some many people.

I really enjoyed reading your book. Its awesome for the people who are new to QTP.

Hi Tarun

Will it include information on how to build Custom Libraries? In particular building custom libraries to enable QTP to recognise .Net or Java objects.

Regards

Sumeet

Please don't take it negatively. If the book is only related to DP then i would discourage it.

To me ...

a) Descriptive programming is when you dont trust the object repositry to be recognise the test object in question, a VERY common problem even for Object Repositry "masters" or when you want explicit control over object handling.

b) Coupled with regular expressions, descriptive programming is awesome in functions when exceptions are raised or recovery scenarious are triggered where you want something more intellegent than "log this and abort test iteration"

d) If the book saves you 1 hour of frustration it pays for itself the same day

e) If the book leads you to better coding practices generally it pays for itself infinitely by increasing script robustness and re-use.

f) Having multiple books for the tools your using on your desk makes you look like a test proffessional, quickly -

g) Having a solid book handy to throw at colleagues when they give you lip is satisfying and therapudic, furthermore books dont classify as improptu weapons and most importantly, their use in office disputes implies the absense of pre-meditated assult to management so thoroughly they may even be inclined to deem such outbursts of expression as an acceptable and healthy method of sress release (in which case having more books about your office gives one a considerable logistic advantages over those who dont)

Hi Tarun,

I wanted you to know that I bought your book from Barnes & Nobles last week ($44.99). I went to the store but they did not have a copy of it and they were gonna mail it. So I have not read it yet.

I have been using QTP for over 5 yrs now. I bought the book so I will have a physical reference for QTP, and in part to confirm that the methods and techniques I use are at least within the norm... LOL.. aside from the normal measure that it works....LOL

I'm curious how much coding is available for communicating between QTP and QC... specially excel or report importing and exporting... if you could point me to some comprehensive and wholesome link.... will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Tarun,
Can you be kind to also include Descriptive Programming with Dot Net objects(specially Smart Client),which QTP is not able to identify even with WPF Add in.
Recently faced the same issue, for which i followed Low Level or WScript (Send Keys) method.

Thanks and Regards,

Vinod, DP only works on what QTP can recognize. So if QTP can't recognize a object then DP also won't work in that case. But yes I will try and keep all my practical experience in this
