    Tool to record and Play

    Hello All,

I am new to this QAforum.

I need a tool to record and play similar type of transactions to create 1000 users.Like typical web application userid creation ,my application also takes all demographics as input and generates userid and password.

Can any one suggest tool for this activity?

    Thanks
    Mahesh

Re: Tool to record and Play

I would probably use WinTask, since it's a tool I already own, and I already use it for many things.

But, since you are new here, you may wish to look around a bit first.

You'll find hundreds of questions like yours - many of which have already been answered.

If you look to the left, you'll find ads for products which may meet your requirements.

And if you look through the forums, you'll find that some are dedicated to tools which could be used to do what you are attempting to do.

    Good luck.

    Perhaps.

Why don't you read the Help, try some simple examples you find there, then come back with questions.

I, or others here, may be able to provide a few suggestions.

And of course, if you are looking to purchase the tool, the folks at Taskware will be happy to support you on their Forums as well.

(I'm not sure why you would want to use WriteExcel() though? That doesn't sound relevant to what you indicated you want to do.)

I second Joe on WinTask. It's a great product for a great price. (which maybe makes it a great product)

I did run into a problem where I didn't have excel installed and it gave an error about it. Maybe that's what you're talking about gmahesh?

Re: Tool to record and Play

    Hi Joe,

Initially when i recorded script through the wintask i was able to run for one iteration. But my intention to run it for multiple transactions. There was typo in my question.I was looking for readexcel syntax not writeexcel.

With online document i was able to witre script.it is working fine.
    Readexcel("C:/a/test.xls","A1:A10",displayName$())

    Thanks again.

Re: Tool to record and Play

    Joe,

I am planning to give bunch of demographics through readexcel function to create 500 users. For DOB(Date,Month and Year) there is dropdown list to select month, day and year. How i can pass variuos values through excel sheet?

    SelectHTMLItem("SELECT[NAME= 'ctl00$MainContent$BD']", "April")) changed to SelectHTMLItem("SELECT[NAME= 'ctl00$MainContent$BD']", mont$(3)) but not working?
    Any idea?

    Thanks
    Mahesh

Re: Tool to record and Play

    (shrug)

    Perhaps you have a typo?
    Should mont$(3) be month$(3) ?

If not, check what you have in mont$(3) by putting
    MsgBox(mont$(3))
before the SelectHTMLItem() function and see what's in there.
