    WinTask and Firefox

    Our application requires Firefox. I am trying to create data driven scripts, however because I am using firefox, the WriteHTML function is not available. Instead when I am suppose to enter text it reads SendKeys: How do I get around this. Below is my script as it currently stands -

    Dim Username$(10)
    Dim Password$(10)

    'Pull Login usernames and passwords from excel spreadsheet
    ReadExcel("c:\Unity\Login.xls", "A2:A11", Username$())
    ReadExcel("c:\Unity\Login.xls", "B2:B11", password$())

    'Open Firefox
    Shell("C:\firefox3\firefox.exe",1)

    UseWindow("EXPLORER.EXE|SHELLDLL_DefView|Program Manager|1",1)
    ChooseItem(ListView, "1", "Mozilla Firefox", double, left )

    UseWindow("FIREFOX.EXE|MozillaWindowClass|Yahoo! - Mozilla Firefox|1",1)
    ClickMouse(Left,Down,278,37)
    ClickMouse(Left,Up,278,37)
    SendKeys("<Del>")

    Pause 2

    'Enter Unity web address
    SendKeys("reed/unity<Enter>")

    UseWindow("FIREFOX.EXE|MozillaWindowClass|Unity - Mozilla Firefox|5",1)
    ClickMouse(Left,Down,593,250)
    ClickMouse(Left,Up,593,250)

    ret = UseOCREngine(2)
    Pause until
    TextOCR("Username")
    InWindow("FIREFOX.EXE|MozillaWindowClass|Unity - Mozilla Firefox|5",1)
    InArea(578,201,20,80)
    PauseFalse
    MsgBox("'Wait for' at line " + #ErrorLine$ + " has failed !")
    End
    EndPause

    'UseWindow("FIREFOX.EXE|MozillaWindowClass|Unity - Mozilla Firefox|4",1)
    'SendKeys("dina")
    WriteHTML("TESTAREA[Username = 'username']", username$(1))
    <Tab>

    'SendKeys("abc123")
    WriteHTML("TESTAREA[Password = 'password']", password$(1))
    <Tab>

    UseWindow("FIREFOX.EXE|MozillaWindowClass|Unity - Mozilla Firefox|5",1)
    ClickMouse(Left,Down,1070,502)
    ClickMouse(Left,Up,1070,502)

    If WinTask cannot support Firefox properly, is there a similar tool out there with the same ease of use that handles ajax?

    Re: WinTask and Firefox

    You have an application that requires FireFox?

    Certainly the WinTask HTML functions only work with IE. You don't get around that.

    As you have seen, you can still use WinTask to automate FireFox, just like any other application, but SendKeys() will have to be used.

    Have you tried the iMacros tool? I believe it has a FireFox add-on. I don't know if it has the same "ease of use" (since that's in the eye of the beholder). And I'm not sure what you mean by "handles ajax". But it might be worth a try.

    Doesn't Compuware have a test tool that works with FireFox?
