I am starting my career as a QA Tester from tomorrow (yay!!!), and this is going to be my very first day of work in the field of QA. I want to know as a QA Tester what are the things I should know or ask about the project, meaning what kind of details I should know in general. As far as I know from the interview, the project is a web-based application and I will be doing testing on the already written test cases, using PVCS Tracker, as the project is going to be released by the end of this month.
Re: Project details to know on the first day of work
Honestly, on a tight schedule like this, I would say, first, you can ask to read the specification, if there is one, failing that see about reading the manual. After that try to make yourself a resource, not a liability. You're still going to be green, but the biggest worry for a team lead at this point in the project release schedule is ensuring that the project is on track, so try to make yourself available to the lead, but try not to be constantly in the way (like a cat, cat owners know what I mean).
You can be a real help at this point in the project, and you can show your worth simply by allowing the lead to do their job and use you where they need additional people at that time.
9 out of 10 people I prove wrong agree that I'm right. The other person is my wife.
