hi, i want some opinion about testing as career.I have joined iso certified company in nepal.Actuaaly they call for web developer which i most prefer. They told me to stuck some month for testing cause right now there is such vacant, due to fresh bachelor i agreed their proposal.i am asking all the member who have worked as testing engineer plz can u specify me whether i worked as testing or after sometime i have to jump to developer. if i have to jump to developer how much time period will be sufficient to be worked on testing.
if i worked 1 yr as testing engineer, will it be benefit for me as i move to over in india or abroad.
I'm going to disagree with Yuva. I think that doing a stint as a tester will help you become a much better developer. After having tested for a while and seeing some of the issues that come up, you will have a much better appreciation for the types of things to avoid when you are doing development work.
I also think that it depends if you moved from development into testing and how long you have been in testing. I have known developers move into testing and then back to development - however they were only in testing 2-3 years. From what I observed and from what they told me they were better developers afterwards as they did have more consideration for Testing and the final product. They also usually did quite a lot of unit testing.

thanx a lot, but we should have concrete thought like that if you are on testing then after a bit time u need update yourself.then jumping into development and return back to test and vice-versa.so, can u specify the period for this phase that give u confident about your updated ability.
