I am trying to test the HEAD request method instead of GET method. I know that HEAD only returns the headers and not the content body. And I was wondering how can I check to see if the content body is missing with Test Complete? Is there an object or method that I can call?
Probably the easiest way to do this would be to just send the request with telnet.
If you're running windows, open Hyperterminal. Change the connection properties, connect using TCP/IP, enter your webserver address and port 80.
Change the settings (file..properties..settings..ascii setup) and enable 'echo types characters locally' and 'send line ends with line feed'so you can see what you're doing.
Open the connection and type :
HEAD / HTTP/1.1 <hit enter>
HOST: <your web server> <hit enter twice>
You will then get the response from the server which should just be the header information.
When typing this into hyperterminal, remember that you are sending each keystroke to the server, so if you enter something wrong, hitting backspace will not correct it. You will have to reset the connection and start again.
I'm afraid I don't know how you do it with Test Complete.
Everywhere's within walking distance if you have enough time.
