Hello. I am fairly new to the QA area as well as with web applications. I've heard my employer mention the desire to eventually have automated testing for our web app. I thought that I would do a little investigating and see if I could come up with some sort of solution. Can someone guide me in the right direction as far as either creating or purchasing a tool to assist with this? Thanks in advance!
Not necessaryly you should go for WinRunner or any other free tools available. First and foremost... identify your key business goals of your products/projects, their criticality, What are the areas you may want to automate, Check your budgets etc.. Finally come to a decision that if automation fulfill your objectives within the budget.
The tool selection is based on the type of test ur
doing(Regression,Performance etc)The other factors include
1.Platform support provided by the tool.
2.Tool limitation Analysis
3.Object Recognition etc.
Win runner will be an effective tool for functional/regression testing. The features of win runner are
1.Scripts can be programmed.
2.Easy Script maintenance.
3.Shared scripts.(Compile Module)
4.Data Driven approach(Data Driver wizard)
6.Object recognition etc
With all these feautures it will be an effective testing tool.
Thanks for all of your help! I've been doing a lot of research on the forums and the web to try and locate a good tool without the high price to it. I've got demos setup with AutomatedQA, RadView and AutoTester so far this week. If you know of any others that are in the $1,000 range I would love to hear about them. Thanks!
