Web and Client/Server applications means different environments.
Client/Server apps need not be Web-based applications. That is, usually a web based appl would be accessed by a browser client whereas a Client/Server application need not be. C/s application can be like a Developer 2k/VB client interacting with Oracle/MS-access server. this is just for an example. Web based appl is something in which a web server stores ur pages and u access it thro a client browser.
So keep in your mind 'Web based application is always Client/Server based but reverse is not always true'.
strictly speaking, a "web application" is a type of client/server architecture. But thats not how the term is commonly used. "web" refers to applications that use a browser as a client and communicate with a server using the HTTP protocol. "Client/Server" is usually reserved to describe non-web network based applications. However, depending on the context, people use the term slightly differently.
and a pet peeve:
you end EVERY one of your posts with a request for the original poster to email you privately. The purpose of a discussion forum is to discuss ideas in the open so others can benefit from reading them. Encouraging others to continue discussions with you in private is counterproductive. Please just add your email address to your signature instead of doing this.
