    Re: web vs product testing?

Can you clarify your question a little bit more?

Essentially, a web site is a product but testing a web site is different from testing a manufactured product like a stroller for instance. With a stroller, you need to test safety features, durability, functionality, etc. On a website you are testing functionality, performance, security, accessibility, etc. The other meaning which I could take from this would be testing product configurations/implementation on a web site.

    Shaky,

By product I meant an application developed using VC++ or a Microsoft Office where U have to install and things like that.

    Hope this clarifies my question...

    Thanks

    Re: web vs product testing?

There are many previous posts on "how to test web applications" and the differences between web client/server apps and 'application' client/server apps. Search a little and you'll find them. The short answer is that the same general concepts apply to web apps as they do to C++ apps except that you don't usually control what GUI (browser) your customer is going to be using, so you have to take that into further consideration.

    Testing a web Application
    i) Test the Web Application in different browser like Netscape & IE, because IE supports both Java script & VB Script but Netscape supports only Java script.

ii) Test the Load using Tool

    iii) Test the Stress

    iv) Test the Performance

v)Test all links are working by clicking on different links.

Difference Between Web Testing & Product Testing

    1. Product testing requires lot of Regression testing after the new version are released.

In Web testing Regression testing is require but there is no version release.

    2. Web Application requires testing on different browser, where Product don't require testing on different browser.

    Re: web vs product testing?

Its a very rare case that you don't have versions of web applications and web applications require just as much regression testing as other applications.
