Web application testing - WIN XP & WIN 2000 on IE 6
I am testing a web application in 2 differenet environments. The application is an Expense entry and management system.
1. Win XP/Office XP/IE6
2.Win 200/Office XP/ IE6
I am encountering the following issues, which I don't know whether these are attributed to the application or the desktop environments:
In both environments, at times, when I am entering expenses on a report, and try to view the report report output, the system shows a different reort as the output for view. This report is always the previous report that I have accessed or worked on.
At the same time, from a summary tab for all the user's report, I am able to access the correct report.
This happens whenever the application is open and idle for at least 10 minutes.
Another isuue is that at times the entry fields does not get displayed and I have to refresh the screen at least 3 times to solve this. This is specially a frequent occurance in the Win XP environment.
If you have experienced any insight as to the cause please advise.
Re: Web application testing - WIN XP & WIN 2000 on IE 6
Since you talk about "at least 10 minutes" and "refreshing" it seems that the problem is with old data somewhere along the line. Now you need to troubleshoot to see where the problem is occuring. This could be a problem with client-caching, the refresh rate on the page (in the META tag), the refresh functionality on the application (how often the application grabs new data), or initializing variables.
One place to start would be to ask development (or read the code and determine) the difference between the Summary tab report and the Report Output.
