Migrating from legacy system..
Our current efforts require us to QA the migration of content (almost 2000+ web pages), from an external hosting environment to the company's internal systems. I need to develop a test plan for the same. Could anyone please suggest the kind of tests one should conduct, what kind of key elements should i concentrate on, and what kind of problems can creep in.
Re: Migrating from legacy system..
When dealing with legacy systems, one must be sure of knowing what the legacy bugs are. A definition of what a 'bug' is compared to a 'legacy bug', and if one or both will be corrected.
If 'legacy bugs' are not going to be addressed along with the migration, they will need to be defined and documented. This document will provide a starting point for 'Phase II' when improvements are to be made to the existing product.
A lack of documentation will be the downfall of any migration / legacy system shift or upgrade.
