Browser Cache Problems
Can anyone put some light on the cache deletion mechanism used in the browsers?
As far as iI know, we set the cache size and once the cache is filled, the oldest accessed page is removed from the cache.
But today I accessed my flash site(in IE 5.0) after two days and it was not in the cache. I had opened two or three sites in these two days and our site has no code related to these cache settings.
What can be the reason of this surprise deletion of files from the cache?
Can we inform our client that our files will be available in the cache for this much time?
Re: Browser Cache Problems
I generally turn the cache off completely. When I write Automated scripts I specifically clear the cache even if it is turned off just to ensure the following test will run properly.
It is dangerous to write web apps that rely on caching as different browsers and configurations can easily make it fail.
I suugest, if possible, you get the app rewritten so it does not rely on cache settings at all.
