I'll mainly be testing the business functions. Prior to our new architecture all testing was manual, emulating user action via the GUI. Not too sure how to go about testing on the new product, a prototype for which is still being developed. I was told that the presentation layer above the
fašade would constantly be changing depending on client requests. It was suggested that I might be able to automate regression tests by saving data to a csv file then using a driver to somehow feed this to the fašade?
Any info you could provide would be appreciated, this is all new to me.
I would have to ask how often is the facade going to change and what items are going to be changed. Depending on these answers you will be able to provide a scope of regression. That is, you will be able to tell them to what extent you can do regression.
For example, let us say that only the graphics and perhaps the layout will be changing. If this is the case then your scope of regression will be limited to only functional testing and data verification. It will be a lot of maintenance to include image and layout regression into your scope if it is changing frequently.
