Automation with Visual Studio
Does Visual Studio come with an automation tool "out of the box", or does one need to purchase an additional plug in or otherwise need to configure it for automated testing? I need to research this for a company, and while I haven't had experience with Visual Studio, the people I spoke with so far don't seem to think that VS will do it.
Re: Automation with Visual Studio
That all depends on what you mean by automation. For example if you are looking for a UI automation tool, a tool that can simulate mouse clicks, keyboard entry, etc. Then Visual Studio would require some assistance with a third party tool to accomplish this.
Overall it provides webtests, performance testing right out of the box and it certainly qualifies as an automation tool.
To get UI automation we use AutomatedQA Test Complete which integrates with Visual Studio so we are able to cover off the different kind of tests.
The big plus to VSTT is the integration with Team Foundation Server and the ability to customize process templates etc.
I hope this helps!
