Comparison with other tools
Hi, did any one get a chance to compare Visual studio testing tools with the other tools like LR, QTP.
If so can any one share their thoughts.
Re: Comparison with other tools
Currently, there is really nothing to compare. As a version 1.0, VS2005 tools are mainly useful for unit testing code - basically the MS version of NUnit.
It does include a few other items:
- Web testing - You are able to make HTTP requests, and view/validate the responses.
- Load testing - Not really a test on its own, it allows you to run numerous instances of your unit or web tests.
- Manual testing - You create a manual test in a Word doc format. When you execute the test through VS, it opens up the doc and waits for you to run the test. When you finish, you enter the result (pass/fail) and any comments. The result is logged in the same format as the unit, web, and load tests. This allows you to publish the results of all tests in a single format - useful if you are running TFS.
So although it does have some useful features, it isn't at a point to be compared to other professional test tools. Give it a few versions perhaps...
