I am a newbie with testing; I used to (and even now) test a web form by filling different types of values in the various fields; recently I discovered about automation testing, now I have a question regarding to this:
In my kind of testing (earlier) I am filling up a form and then checking up the results, how does automated testing works(without filling the form values)?
Re: automated test
I assume you are asking specifically about visual studio test edition. Other automated software has other methods to do this...
In Visual Studio, you would record yourself filling in the form and submitting it.
Once you are done recording, you can go back to your test and run the test. That's it.
If you want to change the values entered in the form, you simply do that by unbinding the respective values and placing new ones (all through the properties window). Then when you playback your test, it will submit the form with the new values.
