Since I was accessing the server using VM so going thru VM
1.Bring down the server in Virtual Machine(VMware)
2.Take a copy of the entire server from VM to an external drive or another host.(which ever is required)
3.Bring up the server in VM
4**. I'm also exploring some option where I can take backup of VM without bring the server DOWN.
Let me find out some way and then I can always provide a more clear method.
Okay so here I'm with all the information related to VMWare.
1.There is no way I can take back up of VMware without bringing down the server.
Steps to follow while taking backup of VM files.
1: Log on to VMWare using host name and password.
2: Select which server you want to take backup for.
3: Goto power option on the top of the VMWare and select Power Off option
4: Log off from VMWare
5: Right Click on Start -> Explore ->(\\test\c$)Type in the Host name ->Locate your server for which you have to take the Backup.
6: Right click on it and click on Copy
7: Now paste the file wherever you wnat to.
8: Once you have taken the backup go back to VMWare and bring up the server, the same using Power On option
*The below mentioned step implies when you want to take backup on another server*
a: Goto Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Remote Desktop -> Select a location(server) where you want to store the file.
I hope things are clear to all.if in case you need any assisstance on this please feel free to write me.
p.s. if anyone has anything apart from what I've in here please share.
