How i will test or prepare testcases for UNIX Commands/Utils (at commandline prompt) in UNIX Environment?
You can write a shell script and can execute from your command line. If you have Rational test manager, you can follow a specific format and can execute using this tool.
just an example:
command:cp source destination
cp source.txt destination.txt
ls -l destination.txt > log
set count=`grep "destination.txt" log`
if ( $count == 1) then
echo "copy_normal test PASSED"
echo "copy_normal test FAILED"
Like thi you can write for positive and negative tests and execute the script.
It shouldn't be any different than any other OS. The nice thing about Unix is that you can take basic unix commands and put them in a shell script.
What if the testing is related to checking, related to memory usage information, then is there any tool's available which would make it easy for testing in unix/linux?.
Thank you for your help in advance.
