    QA Certification

    Hi everyone,

I just started as QA Analyst at an Insurance Firm and our department is fairly new. I'm trying to look for a general Quality Assurance Certification that will cover the basic methodologies, concepts, test plans, test cases, etc... Do you know any certifications that apply to this? Our department isn't looking for a certification to concentrate on the software or system side but just a general one. If their is such a certification, who would you recommend taking the course from?

    thank you!

    Re: QA Certification

Where are you based.... In UK ISEB is general certification, have a look on your local job website and see what type of certificate is required. If you are new to QA, then yes, the course is worth while.

    Re: QA Certification

    Hi Turbografx,

Is the syllabus provided for the ISTQB Certified Tester (Foundation) enough to study for the exam? I found a copy of the syllabus at this site:
    http://www.americantestingboard.org/syllabi.htm.
Is their an online course that you could take?

    Thanks

    Re: QA Certification

    Check out... http://www.softwarecertifications.org/

I'm going for my CSQA this year. Two of my colleagues have already passed.

You will most likely have to fly to the mainland for the certification, but the website has all the details and links to resources.

    Good luck,
    -rm

    Re: QA Certification

There is also the CSTP Certified Software Test Professional from the International Institute of Software Testing or IIST. It is now mostly online also.

    Re: QA Certification

    Hi Rich,

I am interested in doing CSTP, certification. But i think one has to take exams in the defined country. But u have mention that certification is online. What i got from that is ... one can do its exam online from anywhere in the globe.
Make me correct if i got wrong understanding.

    Re: QA Certification

ASQ has the CSTE Certified Software Test Engineer. Look to see if there are local user groups meeting in your area. They can give a good deal of support.

    Re: QA Certification

Actually, CSTE is from Quality Assurance Institute, not ASQ. ASQ's certification is called CSQE - certified software quality engineer.

Also, QAI has removed the word "engineer" from their certification, so CSTE stands simply for Certified Software Tester
