I have been working as a manual tester for 6 months now, and have knowledge of mercury automation tools.Although I had a fair idea that you would need experience for certification exams I didnt know you needed 6 yrs as specified in http://www.softwarecertifications.org/
You are at the very beginning of your journey in testing and QA.
Certifications are a confirmation of your knowledge, experience and skills. It is considered gain experience and skills for the knowledge that it takes to pass the exam that it takes on average 6 years.
Certifications and knowledge without experience and skill are worth very little.
However if you want to go ahead and certify the only people that can truly answer you questions are those at the Quality Assurance Institute.
