Does anyone have any thoughts on the Certified Software Test Professional Certification from the International Institute for Software Testing? It looks like the topics are good, but there are a lot of required semimars.
I have taken a few classes/seminars for CSTP certification (mostly web and auto testing subjects) and found them fairly decent with some really good information.
Talking with my peers and associates within SQA, it seems like the CSTE and CQA certifications are more popular and carry a little more weight at this time.
Personnaly, I believe just having a certification from an accredited institution of some sort is worth the value (I am currently pursuing the CSTE certification myself).
I took & passed the CSTE exam last year. I found that the test was fair, covering the basics of SW Test. I did not study for the exam but I did look over the book of knowledge that was sent to me. I have been doing SW test / QA for over 9 yrs now so my job experience was more than enough to pass the exam. Getting this certification was more of a confirmation of my knowledge than a learning experience.
