Ok here's my situation:-
I am post graduate in computers 2005 pass out.
I have no experience in software and also by now i almost forgot everything i learnt during my studies. I want to go for software testing now... as i am interested in this not just for the sake to get job.
I don't have much knowledge about the preparation i have to do to get job. i am almost done with manual testing studies. Going for automation but before that thinking of giving some certification to make my resume strong.
what you guys suggest me at this point to do to get stronger for this field also want to know about the certification i can give without having any experience in this field.
Really need a good advice for my carrier to get start.
In my experience just because you have some type of IT certification doesn't necessarily mean that you are any good. This is not only true for software testing but I also believe the same applies to development since I have had plenty of anecdotal evidence from very experienced developers who have interviewed Microsoft-certified engineers and similar. I have interviewed many software testers and I have been led to the conclusion through bitter experience. Leave the certification and go straight to applying for jobs. If you have a post-graduate IT qualification then use that and make it stand out in your CV / resume and identify the transferrable skills and experience that would get the attention of a hiring software tester. You'll get plenty of rejections, no doubt, but keep on applying and sell the skills and experience you already have. Enthusiasm goes a long way too, so use that to your advantage also. Once you have your first job then that is when the real learning and experience begins.
