Remember this is an interview question. This is not someone asking how to reproduce a specific reported problem.
I ask (well, used to ask since I'm now retired <grin> a similar question (actually I pose a simple scenario). I'm trying to get at the interviewee's thoguht processes and ability to think around the problem. Mine is a little different because I describe the actual defect.
- See if the users reporting the problem have a factor in common (type of PC, installed software, even age or skill level).
- If possible have more than one tester try to reproduce the problem.
- Are the reporting users able to reproduce the problem? If so, can you borrow their PC? (We have had customers ship a machine across the country to us on occasion).
None of these is the RIGHT answer, and in any case, (as in my own interviews) the interviewer is trying to get YOUR brain fired up, and does not want to hear answers you read here.
