I have worked in 2 small organization & 2 big Organizations
Currently working with a good software organization, with a genuine experience of 6+ years.
Recently I have attended on interview in a reputed organization,
The person said, I will exclude the small organization experience & count only the big organization, reason being he is not aware of the name of these companies. So he told me it will come only 2+ years.
It was really inexcusable to me, so I tell him that the small companyís shares are present in the market how cum you are not aware of these small organizations.
Then he told me we wonít argue on this one now.
Didnít get how to handle this situation?
That employer might thinking to pay you less than what you deserve. If he accepts 6+ then he need to pay you accordingly but he don't want to do that. So he is asking for you to compromise for your salary too!
I suggest forget about this employer and search other.
Look for opportunity what you expect and deserve, else there is no point in just switching the job.
I think right now you are working big Organizations and also you have experience of 6+ years, so there is no need to think about this.
And nowhere this happens that the smaller company experience will not be counted.
I think people will learn more in smaller company than the big ones.
So try for another good opportunity where you will get full respect for the whole experience.
Best Of Luck.
If you win you need not explain...But if you lose you should not be there to explain.
dunno... looks a bit to me as if he was testing your argumentation skills which is something vital in QA and IS process engineering...
I wonder what would have happened if you would have told him that the strategies defined in the small organization were better then the ones in the big one as after all size doesn't matter if it comes to quality.
small organizations want to keep all customers and grow and need systems to be on the boundary to perfection.
Big organizations can afford to lose some customers and probably grow regardless; so they might be a bit loose on stricter strategies as long as it's ensured that they can trade with some flaws here and there.
whether that statement is true or not might be something the interviewer doesn't find out if he oh so doesn't know the small organizations you worked for...
