Looks like this person hasn't had experience doing this, hence the question to us. You can always say there was a critical issue with the major functionality of the application you found 1 day before the release date and hence, the release had to be postponed. However, if you give such an answer, be prepared for several follow up questions like:
1. Why wasn't this found earlier?
2. How did you communicate the issue?
3. What were the repercussions?
4. How did you avoid such a situation in the future?
