I would like some feedback on how regression testing is handled with other QA teams. If there is a regression model that is followed, I'm curious on how it was developed.
My team's regression testing is handled in my opinion somewhat ad hoc(ish). We do have test procedures documented and we maintain them according to requirement changes. However, our process is to note the changes, test them, and verify that nothing is broken due to the changes.
I'm interested in changing our regression method.
Re: Regression Testing
Regression Testing. Testing conducted for the purpose of evaluating whether or not a change to the system (all CM items) has introduced a new failure. Regression testing is often accomplished through the construction, execution and analysis of product and system tests.
Regression Testing. - testing that is performed after making a functional improvement or repair to the program. Its purpose is to determine if the change has regressed other aspects of the program [Glenford J.Myers, 1979]
What your test plan must reflect is to include the recent changes in modules and the modules that are going to be affected because of a change you made in your system.
Hope this Helps.
