QA - Testing = 2 distinct entities !?
In our IT department we have now 2 distinct teams: QA and Testing. I'm working in the QA team, which is mainly responsible with process improvemet, metrics definition and gathering, and revenue assurance incidents analysis.
Maybe is useful to mention that I work in a mobile communication company, and in our IT department we have three types of activities: Operations, support and development. At this moment (QA team is only at the begining) we addresed first the development process.
What you think about this organization? It seems to be useful for us to separate the testing activities from other QA activities, like process improvement. Do you think it's good ?
Re: QA - Testing = 2 distinct entities !?
In many companies, not only is there no distinction, but there is no understanding that there are truly different roles that exist in the two groups or 'headings'.
It sounds as though your company is approaching things as many people wish theirs would!
