New test phase names
As a team we are looking at changing our test policy, with doing this we will change the test phases.
So far we have come up with;
Vendor Testing (Unit Testing)
I am after some opinions on what people think the first 3 phases should be called and what do other people use?
Thanks guys for your time.
Why are you calling Unit Testing Vendor testing? Generally most companies trust their outside vendors, and do their unit testing on code they write. You expect the vendors to do their own testing if they are shipping you stable software. Or are you talking about component level testing? (testing sub-systems in isolation)
For the 2nd, I'd probably go with Sanity or Smoke Testing. Those are industry standard terms.
I was thinking about picking cities in the world that have train system. Then Name the progress after the train stops. Then no one can accuse us of picking innaccurate names. It may also sound interesting in meetings. Or mix the stations. "We are at Grand Central heading toward Elephant and Castle. We are at the Summit point of testing." I better get back to testing....
