I have a smoke test that runs for weekly builds for my aut which runs against oracle and sql.
Currently I let the development and management know the tests have been started via email and also another email when the smoketest complete, I manually update an email template for this.
Then I paste the results into an Excel spreadsheet that they access.
Does anyone do something similar to this?
Of course I want to automate this process. They don't need the results in an excel spreadsheet, but they do want 'one stop shopping' somehow somewhere to see test results.
The automation tab on the test lab run provides much of the information they want and they can automatically generate an email, although I'm having a problem with adding my own fields into that.
No idea about what to do for a central reporting place, maybe a web page or something?
I'm always interested in the easiest way to do this, it would be really nice if the automatically generated email could append itself to something out there.
We made a basic website. It was great to tell people check it out for yourself
Patience is like bread I say.... I ran out of that yesterday.
I set up our nightly smoke tests to email the test names with a simple pass/fail next to them. And in the case of failures, attach the html version of the run report to the email.
Are there any tools in QC or QTP to build such a reporting website?
There is no built in reporting engine other than the results which QTP gives.
Ideally reporting would be specific to the project need and framework dependant.
Excel reports/dashboards, xml/html are most commonly used one's.
But a website is not a bad idea....

We set up macros in Access to run every morning and display the latest results on the website.
