Testing services have evolved through a life cycle of different engagement models, as described below.
 Testing was being done by the development team in the form of unit testing, Integration testing and System Testing.
 Later a dedicated team was formed within the Organization that was responsible for the testing activities.
 This further moved to a model of Independent Verification and Validation services (I V & V), where the testing team was an independent entity / organization different from Development organization.
 Managed Testing Services signified another enhancement in the test engagement model.
 Then came the concept of TCOE that was a customized testing service offering for large clients who maintained permanent partner relationship.
Most of the engagement models like Managed testing Services, Project mode of testing services and TCOE are still the mainstay in providing the software testing services on a large scale.
Recent development includes provision of testing services as a part of the Agile Methodology adopted for projects, where Sprint based development is accompanied hand in hand with agile sprint based testing.
TaaS – Testing as a Service is another offshoot of this evolution process. This model of engagement complements the large scale models but can also operate as an independent model, with On-demand and Outcome Based testing services, especially for small and mid-cap customers, for whom the Cost associated with testing services or maintaining a large testing team is a challenge.
Keyword “Outcome based” testing can signify many aspects of this model:
 Output and outcome from this model is pre-defined, where the customer as well as the service provider are clear about the scope and size of the engagement.
 Pricing in these plans could be pre-defined and agreed upon at the start of the engagement.
 Span of the project is also pre-determined in the standard plans offered under TaaS.
 Short term requirements of the client like quick cycle regression, on-demand testing, JIT testing etc. can be achieved in this model.
 Meeting Quality objectives but keeping the costs within the estimated budgets
 Output from TaaS could also result into an outcome based engagement relationship
In TaaS we strive to achieve these finer aspects of Quality with:
 Standardized processes
 Metrics driven approach
 Our access to large pool of testing resources
 Flexible on-demand testing assignments
 Quality of the testing resources on board and our proven Competency development framework
